In 1937, Bo Dang (Yoon Chang Sik) took over Dong Wha. He was devoted to instilling Dong Wha with the strong conviction that the spirit of establishment of Dong Wha, "Dong Wha should manufacture drugs of only good quality, and then serve it to people", should be maintained against the unfortunate of the age. As he emphasized the Fundamental principle, honesty, and sincerity as the life rule of all employee and selected a well-qualified person by exactly dividing with each person and form, he had renovated the form of management. Such philosophy of modern style of Bo Dang had been helped to overcome Dong Wha's critical situation. Dong Wha actively manufactured medicines again, so that Dong Wha had produced and supplied medicines about 90 series by reinforcing the latest drugs including Novafirin (antipyretic and analgesic), Methrin (sulfonamide) and extended his market to AnDong, BongChun, SinKyung, and the north of GanDo in Manchuria through a well organized sales activities. Over the year, Dong Wha had more grown up, so that in 1938 Dong Wha opened a branch office in Manchuria and in 1942 a branch factory at An Dong in Manchuria. Although Japan tried to liquidate national enterprises under Japanese rule, Bo Dang's philosophy which had brought up Dong Wha as a national pharmaceutical enterprise has been continued as the spirit of Dong Wha with the spirit of establishment. Since he took over the helm of Dong Wha Pharmaceutical Industrial Company Limited as the fifth President on February the 26th in 1937, Bo Dang, Yoon, Chang Sik had devoted all his efforts to build up the Company with sincerity, humility and modesty until he died on February the 8th in 1963 at the age of seventy four. Throughout the entire tenure with the Company, his main concern and aim had been to enhance the health of the people especially when they were under Japanese rule. He had insisted to produce drugs of only finest quality. Both in times of tribulation and prosperity, he had fostered the spirit of family among all employees. He had further showed the principle of Dong Wha that every member of the Company should be benefited and prosper as a result of their sincere efforts and toil. Now, we erect his statue here so as to cherish these virtue and philosophy of his and to have them realized by the next generations of Dong Wha family. May the spirit of Bo Dang guide the future developments of pharmaceutical industry of this nation and of the world.
